    Hey guys,

I am working on creating a christmas card video for my work and my footage is very noisy/grainy. I tried using the remove grain tool but I could not get rid of the noise…here is a youtube link to the video so you can see exactly what I am talking about…any suggestions? I am very new to AE and having trouble getting my keys to come out right.

AE’s remove grain effect is pretty good. It will not be “click of a button” process though. You need to play around with the settings to get good results.
Unfortunately you will not be able to completely eliminate the grain unless you re-shoot. But grain is not such a bad thing- if you match the grain in your footage to your background plate then it will not stand out so much. A bit of color grading to better blend the elements in, a bit of light wrap on the chroma elements and it will look a lot different.

How do I go about color grading a light wrap? Are there any tutorials or can you give me some step by step help?

The blocky noise in the jacket may be compression artifact either introduced in camera or in post.

I agree with Ted, the reduce noise filter has to be tweaked, you may need to use an adjustment layer or some other method to isolate the areas you want the noise removed from, otherwise you run the risk of making the whole image too soft.

    Two different things.
Light wrap- here’s a great tutorial:

Color Grading- now that’s a wast subject.
Here’s a couple of good places to start:
