I am working on a project that contains an object that i have a thin stroke applied to with the layer style option. I want the image’s stroke without the image fill. Is there any way to accomplish this without using a mask or matte or going back into photoshop?
I want the original image to fade up into the outline containing it.
    I am using version CS3.

Easiest way would be to create 2 images. One – image without stroke, two – stroke without fill, and animate them in AE.

You’ll get better results for the 5 minutes it will take IMO.
