Removing Difficult Rolling Bands with Flicker Free
Hi all,
I’ve got a piece of footage that has some serious rolling bands happening and have tried to use Flicker Free to remove them. It’s not working too well and I wanted to see if anyone had any other techniques. Perhaps, matting around the figures in the shot and then blurring? Another plug-in? Attached is a screengrab of the bands.

Just a theoretical idea if you’re out of other ideas.
Layer several (5 or so) copies of footage, offset them by one frame each and use difference matte with a threshold to blend the areas that have little difference in luminosity (just enough to blend the lines). Stack the layers with decreasing opacity (50, 33, 25, 20, 16.666).
I’m using “difference matte” pretty loosely here, meaning the difference between two frames, as in where you blend them in that mode and create a matte that lets some parts show through. You’d probably need to use precomps (with the “base” footage and the blend footage in difference mode plus a tint and levels adjustment to create the matte) as track mattes.
