Hi have a video file that need to put in narration in wav format, however after incorporate both narration sound and video and render them. The wav sound at 0db volume is too soft. But when i increasing the volume…i can hear loud noise at the background..how do i increase the wav volume but without an noise background. BTW.. i render the video in MOV and compression by photo JPEG.
    thanks!!

I’d go with the Bass & Treble effect, High-Low Pass effect or the Parametric EQ effect.
All found in Effects > Audio Effects.

If it were me, I’d take the wav file into Audition (or a similar audio editor), and use the noise reduction filter, to reduce the background noise. Then increase the amplitude and save.

You should check again. The feature list for Audacity states that volume can be changed with “Amplify”.

With any sound program you should check the Reduce Noise filter and the Normalize filter.

Also the Amplify can help you with the volume, but it can clip it, so be careful.

This is what I always do:

-Open the file and apply Normalize.

-Then, apply the Noise Reduction filter (usually getting a noise sample first, and then applying the filter).

-And finally, if needed, a Limiter.
