  • Remove Strobe or Alias from Video in CS5.5 or Encore

HD Video shot on Sony 1500 at 1080i, 29.97

Apple 422 ProRes recorded on AJA Ki-Pro mini

We’ve tried multiple encoding and field options (MPG2/DVD/AVI in Premiere CS5.5 and direct to Encore CS5.1) and can’t get rid of a “strobe” or alias effect that is appearing in our HD video.

The video is aerial based video shot of skyscrapers/high rises. Seems we could be put into seizure if this strobe effect isn’t removed.

Tried all combinations of flicker removal/anti-alias effect/flicker filter at 1.0

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    Hi Jennifer,

Hard to know what the problem is without seeing the video. Assuming the project settings for editing matched the footage? If there was a mismatch of frame rates or something, that could make the video look funky.

All I can suggest is that in Adobe Media Encoder, when exporting to MPEG-2 for DVD, be sure to check the box for “Maximum Render Quality” at the bottom, as this improves the downscaling when going from HD to SD.

    Thanks
