  remove spotlight

  Dear Creative Cow-ers,

  This is probable A: Silly question
  B: Been asked a million times

  I am editing some footage I did of a kids dance concert, I have a problem that one of the spot lights is shining centre(Australian) stage, making the kids in the centre brighter than the kids in the peripheries.

  I want to eliminate the effect of that spot light, so all the kids are lit evenly. When I do, what I call negative effect, but prem. pro cs4 calls “extract” you can see in black and white, areas of concentrated whiteness/blackness; it shows vividly which kids are in the spot light and which are not.

  I have tried playing with the “lighting effects”, trying to put the spotlight on those kids, but make the spotlight black/grey to neutralise the effect of the stage spot light. Adobe CS4 lighting effect dulls the area outside of the (CS4)spotlight, so I end up with the whole picture being grey/dull, and still does not look right.

  Please if someone could point me in the direction of a forum thread that might cover this; or a tutorial. If I need a plug in, please suggest.

  Unfortunately I cannot post a screenshot, as the dance concert has protected kids in it.

  I am a NOOB, I take on the filming/editing to improve my knowledge. I have no training in this field, I am a nurse.

  My specs are

  Windows 7 64bit, Adobe CS4: Prem Pro,Photoshop, After Effects.
  Standard def DV footage, input via standard 1394(firewire) port.
