  • Remove music from video using the original audio file?

    Hi there,

First time posting here, so sorry if I’m in the wrong forum or anything.

    Here’s my problem:

I recently discovered several videos that I made many years ago when I was a kid. Since I was really unexperienced with videoediting back then, I put loud music over some scenes so it became impossible to hear what was being said in the background.

Is there a way to filter out the music if I have the songfile? Using Premiere or some software to remove/mute the frequencies the song plays at or something?

    Thanks in advance!

    Even

Put the audio track of the video in Audition’s multi-track and place the song under in track 2. Switch the polarity of track 2 and adjust the volume until you get the most amount of cancellation.

This is probably the method to get the most detail back out of your original dialog track but you’ll probably cause huge amounts of damage to it as the human voice is a very broadband sound (spans the frequencies of audible sound).

Alternately you could try using EQ to aggressively tune down the high and low end to give the music less power and apparent volume.
