I just installed CS5 was testing PP. When I try to make my Facilis 24D Fiber network drive be my scratch disk, I get this error: “The Location you have chosen is a removable drive. Please choose another location.” This is a drive has been used as a scratch disk for 5 years with FCP. Other removable drives on the system work just fine as scratch disks. I CAN save the project to the same disk; it’s just using it as a scratch disk that is the problem.

    Help.

    Hi Larry,

Strange… Have you tried making a shortcut to that drive and using that instead?

    Or maybe a virtual drive?

Thanks Vince. Your reply reminded me that I forgot one critical detail. I’m on a Mac Pro, current OS.

    Got it,

Well, you could try creating a shared folder on the network drive, then mounting it as your scratch disk?

I simultaneously had feelers out with Facilis. They suggested moving the Media Cache database, or changing the facilis drives to be DAW compatible – very simply done. Neither worked just restarting PP, but after doing both, a computer re-boot solved the problem.

    Thanks for your suggestions.
