Remember when Apple bought Shake and Shake users who made a good living on that software freaked out…Apple said don’t worry we are supporting Shake…then killed it screwing over a big pro user base that had to go elsewhere and Apple didn’t even blink.

Then FCP users got excited because we were sure that meant they were integrating it into FCP and Motion…haha, ya I remember that too.

And Color was great tech purchased by Apple also we all thought who’s pro feature set would be merged into FCPX. Where is it? What’s with all the automation? What pro’s use automation for anything???

Why highjack a pro meeting at NAB which you have abandoned to tease pro users with vague features but a flashy blobby new UI that nobody asked for? What about FC Server? XServes. DVDSP.

I’m tired of depending on Apple for any of my pro needs. Glad I own Media Composer.

Let’s face it….this is a clever toy for clever consumers. Most pros now will look elsewhere.
Color?? What happened there? After grading both films and ads on it I’m not now
    going to pull out…..yes Imovie.

Remember when Apple bought Key Grip from Macromedia, changed the name, and sold over a million copies of FCP taking over the market?

Shake was another story. Nothing Real was shopping it around to every big developer and studio and nobody wanted it. They were ready to open source it when apple stepped in and did them a favor and gave them some cash. whoever bought it got hell from Steve for buying a company with “400 registered users”. Many “big” fx facilities surprisingly only owned a few licenses of Shake (many pirated the rest).

Color is an example of a great app with a terrible UI/UX (I beta tested Final Touch and know the reasoning, which was bad reasoning). I would guess that 99% of FCP users touched it once and never went back.

Avid is worse than Apple. Remember the industry leading morphing/warping tool, Elastic Reality? Remember the industry leading rotoscoping tool Matador and composting tool Illusion? Avid killed them all. Then I helped develop a roto tool called Commotion which became the replacement for Matador, which Avid eventually acquired and killed. And SoftimageDS?

The reality is that all of these are business decisions. FCP makes Apple money, and I am convinced that they will eventually make this version stellar. Question is how long will it take. As the owner of a studio who migrated from Avid MC to FCP years ago, I am at the crossing point of going back to Avid or switching to Premiere… the more I test Premiere the more I like it… they just need to fix a few things.

I want to know why this entire mess exists in the first place, last year, I paid $999.00 plus Tax, for Final Cut Studio, with the understanding that it would be a viable product in the future, today I contacted apple and was told that Final Cut Studio is history, gone, over, done.

I feel like I have been victimized by apple and I am really irritated, I saved up money to buy this software, now its worthless, that makes me angry, I used to really like apple but over the last two years, I do not understand what the hades they are doing.

How is it worthless? You can still edit with it for a long time and still make money.

What I am saying is that just a few months ago I paid, over a Grand, for this software, plus I dropped 3800.00 for a MAC book pro, so I could develop on the move, now, I have a suite of products that have bugs in them and no real action on updating the known issues in this software, imports still crash the interface, (I could go on and on but I know you do not want to hear this stuff so I will stop here)

The fact is that I paid for entrance to this product with the understanding that it was going to be in development and a stable product, and yes I called into apple before making this purchase, so I really feel let down. Two months, ago, when I called in today, I was told that they were very sorry but there was just nothing they could do.

Anyone want to buy a slightly buggy version of FCS
