    Hello,
I had a strange one recently, a client had some material captured at full, (625/50 10bit 4:2:2 uncompressed) resolution, only to have this material down-resed to DV25 so as they could do a rough-cut on their laptop. That all went fine, they brought the project back to me, I duly loaded the project, started a new 10bit 4:2:2 uncompressed sequence, dropped in the cut and relinked, sorry, reconnected the off-line clips back to the uncompressed media on my San. The problem was that the media came back with the wrong field dominance. I don’t have to tell you what it played like! After going around in a few circles, I opened the clip in the viewer and under the filters found a ‘switch fields’ filter that had indeed switched the dominance.
Is it me? Has anyone else had this happen? Just curious because I hadn’t seen it before…

Another way to deal with this is to use Media Manager to make a copy of the project without media, changing the codec to 10 bit 4.2.2 .

Then open the new project and reconnect the original media. The field dominance should be correct in the new project. The automatic shift fields filter is a pain. If you are using a card like the Decklink, it is totally uneccessary for FCP to insert this filter.
