Relink RED media – still cannot view in timeline
Hi all
New to Premiere, usually use FCP7 or Avid, but doing vfx on someone else’s edit.
I relink the video files, and they appear to connect (can play them back no problem in the Source monitor, as you’ll see in the image) but still get “Media Offline” when I play them in the timeline.
Tried opening a new sequence, opening a new file and copy+pasting clips in, deleting the preview files after relinking. Am completely stuck and pretty irritated with this problem. Please send help!

It’s probably something to do with fact that you’re working with merged media. Premiere doen’t quite know how to work with it yet.
Also, if you’ll notice, even though the video is playing in the source window, the icon is still the media missing question mark, so something is clearly missing. When you relinked everything did it ask about audio as well as video?
I’ve never relinked merged clips, (i try to avoid them as they are a little half baked as yet) but I will experiment.

Merged clips sound like nested clips in FCP7, at least inasmuch that they should be avoided.
Unfortunately, the editor used them so I need to figure this out. Thanks for the words, John-Michael! I’ll see how this goes and will post the result.
