Is it me or was there a thread last week with this heading? It consisted of maybe 8 messages all expressing their wants with the new version of FCP, mainly it was suggesting that Apple needed to focus most of its attention on the Media Manager. Ok so someone did refer to it as the Media Mangler, but from what I understand that person has been taken away and dealt with. Oh no I’ve just remembered, I responded to those posts also suggesting that Apple needed to pull their finger out with regards to this issue, surely that cannot be deemed as seditious…anyway I better go before they trace me!

    Likelikhood?

Flip a coin and you’ll have an answer.

Seriously, I enjoy Mac rumors a fair amount and I’ve read NOTHING an upgrade to the current Final Cut except that it might be at NAB. And, uh…that “rumor” is clearly just a guess based on the fact that NAB is coming up. There’s been nothing else to indicate that FCP 6 is around the corner. Maybe. Maybe not!

(There HAVE been rumors about Apple coming out with something else having to do with video, but…once again…that’s the entire rumor! Good luck guessing what it means!)

    Jeff,

Yeah I know that Apple may or may not release an update at NAB, basically this subject was covered last week in a series of posts with the same subject name. And what I was asking was why has that thread been erased from the forum?! Seems like a bit of a violation to me?

    Ah, I see.

It was removed because this is not a rumor site. It is a technical advice forum. The leadership here feels that such threads are not only clutter but that they may even upset a company if a secret actually IS revealed here. They just don’t want to take that risk considering that they have something to lose and nothing to gain.

    Jeff,

It just seems a little draconian to me. The Cow has always been a forum for discussion, I didn’t think it was necessarily dedicated to technical issues. That said most of the particular thread in question was centred on what improvements people would like to see e.g. a proper offline to online workflow, and therefore one could argue that it was of a technical nature. So maybe there was some speculation that there may be a new release at NAB, but I wouldn’t call that a hot rumour, is there anyone out there who doesn’t think that Apple will release a new improved version at the end of April-after all it has been a year since the last major update?

And since when was it wise not to listen to its users with regards to improvements, they have made the committment in so far as purchasing and it is they who use the software every day. I remember a few years ago when Media100 users were desperate for certain changes, but their requests fell on stoney ground.

    Anyway heres hoping
