  • Reinstalling EVERYTHING – will Medea be fine?

    Hey,

We’re going to reinstall Tiger, FCP, 3rd party, everything. It’s in hope of cleaning up some of the extraneous illogical problems. My question: Will everything on my external Medea array be fine? I can’t afford to even think about losing the data that’s there. Or somewhere in the reinstall process is it going to “forget about” the Medea and I’m going to lose everything? Maybe we shouldn’t do this after all…

I’ve done this very thing 3 times now. Not a problem. I leave the drives powered down until I get to the install of the controller card driver. You should be fine.

Good! Thanks. I just get a bit paranoid when it comes to massive amounts of data…

Best thing to do is disconnect it completely. That way there’s no danger of anything happening…save your pet gorilla sitting on it!

We shut ‘er down and did the reinstall – so far it looks as if everything went well…
