Recently uninstalled and reinstalled fcphd 4.5 in an attempt to make things run smoothly. The reinstall worked fine until a few days ago it wouldn’t recognize the dsr-ll. I kept on working with the idea that as soon as I finished this phase of the project, I would uninstall and reinstall (per Apple instructions) fcp 4 and then 4.5.

Upon uninstalling and reinstalling this time, today, the program quits immediately. It starts up then goes into the beach ball and crash. I uninstalled again, asap, but its still not firing up.

Any ideas????? I’m still not finished with the project!!

    thanks

You’ve probably got handfull of conflicting prefs and registration files. sorry, I am not familiar with the Apple doco you’re using but you may want to search carefully for any and all files FCP leaves sprinkled around and delete them. Everything. Tedious.

You may be forced into a complete reinstallation of your entire hard drive contents. Sad, but possible. I’d suggest you find a suitable backup application that can create a bootable copy of yoru system drive’s contents, just to be on the safe side.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

What software do you recommend for the backup copy? I’ve wondered if this wouuld be the next step.

btw, I went back a third time and removed all files listed in the above doc, then reinstalled fcp 3 (these are all upgrades to fcp3) and tried each one in turn. 3 started ok. But 4 wouldn’t fire nor would 4.5.

    Thanks for your response.
