This may be more of a youtube question.
In general, why might an .h264 look great when played locally, but drop frame-rate and pixel quality when uploaded and played through youtube?

Bitrate and youtube compression. Larry Jordan has an indepth look at compression issues, including basics, and comparisons of AME and Compressor on the new Mac Pro. Very good reading goven your question. Go to his web sit and read his latest blog.

Thanks Al, I understand general compression theory, I’ve been making animated videos for a while. Larry’s info was great to brush up on. I still don’t understand why the video would play smoothly from a file on my computer, and be so jerky in the browser. I’m guessing it’s related to the bitrate
