Refreshing Renders and Audio
Hello this maybe an old problem that I been dealing since FCP 5.1.4 upgrade I think. Sometimes it happened, sometimes not, but specially on big sequences..
When we modify something in the time line that need to re-render..sometimes it never refresh the render, it keep showing it the old render. even if we unable and enable the clip again.. or the hole track, still showing old renders or wire footage from other clips. The only solution I found is using render manager to clean all sequence render and re-render all again. This is very painful when you have a 60 minutes timeline. Something similar happened now with the audio tracks.. when I use the mute or solo options, I’m still listening for the other tracks only on the segments that need render. For me seams to be the way FCP handles the render files system. So if someone knows any way to fix this issue will be very welcome.
This is what we have.
3 FCP systems 2G5 and 1Intel all with at least 4Gb Ram, Kona Cards, FCP 6.0.3, OS 10.5.2. 7TB Xraid for storage & renders hooked to a Xserve G5, and distributed with a Dual 1GB Ethernet network.Thanks.

You are right Juan Carlos. That was an annoying bug. FC used to loose the renders link.
There are a bunch of posts about this issue in the Cow although I couldn’t find no one. Was long ago.
I think that the problem arise when you duplicate a sequence that has already been rendered.
If you modified the copied sequence the links with the render files are lost.
If I’m not wrong the only solution was to keep working in the original sequence instead of in the copy.Mac OX 10.5.2-FC 6.02-QT 7.4.1

HELLO,
Can you open a project done in FCP 5.2 in FCP 5.1.4
and
Can you open a project done in 5.1.4 in 5.2?
Will my friend, who’s using FCP 5.1.4 in her school, be able to go back and forth without a problem or will she have to use the same version, 5.1.4 as the schools, on her machine to be able to work on assignments at home.
I’m personally having a hard time finding a copy of 5.1.4 for her and that’s why I’m asking. Seems obvious to me but I have to ask.
