Reflections on floor from object with curves.
Been struggling with this one for a few days. I’m trying to create a somewhat passable reflection on a floor from photograph of a boot. Problem is that the photograph was taken with the boot at 3/4 angle to the camera. In other words, the rounded toe of the boot in the foreground and the heel farther in the background.
Using the normal tricks of creating reflections, by flipping the layer down and lining it up with the bottom, it creates gap between the heel of the boot and the heel in the reflection. Normally with a object with straight edges, I could skew the sides to match, however, the curves in the side of the boot and rounded toe complicate things.
I’ve tried corner pin and mesh warp to kind of bend the reflection, but usually ends up distorting the image too much. Mesh warp has been the closest so far.
I’ve been through a couple tuts, Andrew Kramer’s “3D reflections” and his “3D silhouette” from the “Serious Effects & Compositing” DVD, but nothing seems to work.So I’m looking for some inspiration and see if there is something I’m missing.
