I apologize if someone has already posted this, but from what I’ve read, no real answer has ever been posted. So again, apologies.

I have a pretty simple scene. One object (sphere), sky (white) that isn’t visible by camera, and a floor (reflecting ONLY the sphere. The sphere is receiving reflections from BOTH the sky and the floor. My question is this, how do I make is so that the Sphere and it’s reflection render out on an alpha channel. As of right now, it’s also rendering out the floor. I’ve thrown a compositing tag onto the floor, but unchecking scene by camera removes the sphere’s reflection. Multipass doesn’t seem to do much good either.

    Thoughts?

I would put a compositing tag on the sky object and drag the floor into the exclusion tab so the sky won’t be reflected in the floor. Then add a reflection pass and an object buffer pass for the sphere.

In post, use the object buffer as a luma matte to place the sphere over the reflection pass. Set the relection pass layer to add mode.
