Ref Movie – Startup problems
How do i stop FCP from trying to find reference movie files on startup, when i don’t think they exist anymore?
Ever since i updated my Kona3 driver, FCP has began looking for movie files on startup. It gives me code numbers that are meaningless to me, and is unable to find them itself…..
any idea how i can stop this from happening as its really slowing down my startup time?

Any chance you have motion projects in your FCP project?
If so, those motion projects are looking for old render files that probably aren’t there anymore.
If you delete the Motion projects you will get rid of those dialogues.

no – i stopped using Motion after l kept on getting random coloured frames when i rendered the files in FCP!!
I think i have just cured the problem….I could find the files it was looking for, and they did have video content but would not link up. So i trashed prefs, used Render Manager to delete all renders (and this also entailed going through every folder on the Raid, to ensure there were no hidden Render File folders – which there were!).
Anyway – i think its working ok right now…but thanks for the suggestion.

Usually associated with the Recent Items list. You can try to purge that at the Finder level or open and save a bunch of empty projects.
Can also be associated with recent server connections if some of your media was stored externally.bogiesan
