    Hi All,

I get rough playback and recording when doing a digital cut. The section that is playing back badly displays blue and red lines on the timeline track. I’m working uncompressed on an Xpress Pro HD Mojo system. The system is a dual-Zeon Dell spec’d out by an AVID reseller. The drive is a Lacie 250 gig USB 2.0. This is the first major output I’ve done (30 minute)since upgrading the system to Xpress Pro HD. Worked fine for this kinda stuff before the upgrade.

Anyone tell me what’s up here…more importantly is there a fix. Really need to get this show out.

    Thanks for any advice,

    John

    Hi

Dont know much about Xpress sorry, however i run adrenaline here, and if those lines appear with staggered playback it means that the avid is struggling with that particular part of the sequence, this can be linked to the number of avid drives you have, speed of the machine, type of FX used, number of layers etc etc. My advise is render off that section, go to the hamburger menu at the bottom left hand side of the timeline and switch off effect icons etc, and try again. You should be fine.

    Hope that helps

The USB drive/USB interface is too slow for uncompressed media. You need U320 SCSI drives for such work if you want the system to work reliably.

    Thanks guys,
I’ll try these suggestions and if it still won’t work I’ll go to an Adrenaline suite for output.
