  • Red Giant Denoiser crashes in After effects cs 5.5

Posted by Frank Brown on March 7, 2012 at 10:58 pm

    Hello everyone.
I`ve got win 7 x64, AE cs 5.5 and Denoiser from MBP.

So the last one crashes after using it in several footages.
I used it (Denoiser) as sharpen filter by reducion “Noise Reduction” and adding “Enchacement”.
Too bad, but this trick doesn`t work in a new version of Denoiser ( Denoiser2 ).

Can you help me with getting rid of the crashing or give me advice about analogues of sharpen filter.

Any help is really appreciated! Thank you!

    Good news Frank –

Red Giant released Denoiser II recently just to address the instability issue. It’s available as a free download:

They actually removed Denoiser I from the market last year and rewrote it from scratch.

    Dear Joseph,
In my previous post I wrote this trick doesn`t work in a new version of Denoiser (Denoiser II).
I used Denoiser as a sharpen filter, but in DenoiserII I can use it only as denoiser, sharpen options doesn`t work.

So I`m looking for another plugin, that could do cool sharpen effect to my footage.
Standart “Sharpen” filter in AE doesn`t suit me, because it adds to much white lines on the edges.

Switched to Unsharp Mask, but still believe that there should be better plugin.
    Any thoughts guys?

You can try SK Sharpen in SmoothKit
-> Set Multi-Res Mode away from default OFF and raise Amount to start and then play with Radius if you have no small details…
