    Aloa dear Cow community !

Some red dots appear on my compounded text clip. There are some effets on it, as you can see, which might be a cause.

Have you had that probleme before ?

    Thank you very much,

    Jean

Jean, try doing a test render of that segment to determine if the red dot appears in the final rendered video. My guess is that you won’t see it in the test render.

I’ve not seen that sort of artifact but if you see it before render on the compounding then it will likely be in the final. It suggests you may not have the GPU processing required. Check you have the GPU power, VRAM and memory recommended

    Thank you very much !

Well, I have an iMac, which is quite powerful. I can render pretty much anything, but could this be – a blur and a waviness on text 😖 – a GPU power problem, on any computer anyway ? Isn’t it the easiest and lightest thing to perform for the program ?

Rendering it, not rendering it, it still appears. I might add that the text is slightly moving. I was thinking maybe the waviness effect collide with the movement (using “Position” keyframes). Anyway, so far I had to just forget about these effects on text ☹.

The power you need is in the GPU and the VRAM associated with the GPU. Check to make sure your machine is within recommended specs that Blackmagic publish on their support page

Jean, I had a problem with a font I downloaded from the internet – it had the word ‘demo’ as part of the glyph. It was very tiny and I wouldn’t have noticed if I wasn’t paying attention. Have you used this font before with no issues?

    Fastest solutions, in order:

    1. Restart computer. If that doesn’t work,

    2. Change font. If that doesn’t work,

    3. Move credit material into new project, and if it works there, render out a lossless file and import into original project. If that doesn’t work, and you’re on deadline,

    4. Just add a lot more red dots all over the screen and sit back to hear the client praise you for your creativity.

Weird issue. Please share what you find out. Good luck.

    Hello !

I found out what was the cause.

I was extending the size of the text from the compounded object settings, rather than directly from the text source options.
