when applying red 5.0.3 -> red interprete footage as 1920×10802. simply opening red as plug-in of vegas ( fx ) , do nothing at all in red and click apply -> the effect is too large to save to the host , please save the setting to disk or the setting is lost.

Also installed Red 5.03 demo after uninstalling 5.02 demo and got the same problem as you did. Uninstalled 5.03 and reinstalled 5.02 and things are back to normal.

June 26, 2011 at 1:33 pmThere was a change in 5.03 to work around a problem with large effects data stored with the Vegas host. Most normal size effects should hot be affected. We investigate tomorrow (Monday) and report back on this thread.

June 26, 2011 at 5:00 pmThanks for the answer . ( all my clips are PAL 1440 x 1080 m2t files )
I simply took a 5 seconds m2t clip ( with no fx at all , pure as shot in the field ) , launch red 5.0.3 as fx , do not do anything at all in boris red and click apply in boris red .
Actually I clicked apply by mistake , wanted to click cancel , since I was trying to find out why boris red interpretes my 1440×1080 m2t file as a 1920×1080 file . I then noticed this happens all the time.
Take clean small few seconds m2t , apply boris red as fx , do absolutely nothing in boris red and click apply -> ……..Easy to produce , reproduce , so most probably easy to resolve but strange this has not been noticed

February 3, 2012 at 9:15 amMy m2t ( 1440×1080 – 50i ) footage in vegas is still seen as 1920×1080 in boris red as (trial ) plug-in of vegas , resulting in useless since everything done in boris red 5 as plug-in is misplaced on the original m2t footage in vegas .
Also framerate differs in red ( looks like speeded up ).Makes no sense to me . ( trial 5.1.1 has not helped anything in this regards )Maybe not meant for PAL , this version of red , bizar at least.

February 3, 2012 at 1:34 pmI recommend to first upgrade to 10e. Second, see if you can go to the Project Settings window and change the project size and frame rate.

My fault , I replied here since I had the same issue as this post and additional my own description but I am an official vegas user and having all latest versions installed of vegas ( meaning versions 10e and version 11 version 520/521 ).
RED5 as trial as plug-in of both vegas version ( 10e and 11 )and on both see what I described here .
The project settings window in red 5 ( as plug-in of vegas ) does not allow to change project size and frame rate. ( it says itself that it is 1920×1080 and most probably 60i instead of 50i )
It does allow to change project size and frame rate when running RED 5 as stand-alone. ( that would otherwise be completely insane )

February 3, 2012 at 8:26 pmOK , did a few more tests ( am doing this in between on request of a few other vegas editors here in the province ) and noticed the following :
Our projects are m2t files (1440×1080-50i) and vegas is , of course , set as such.
When using red 5 as plug-in , it sees these as 1920×1080 ( let’s forget the framerate for the moment )and this goes wrong when returning to vegas.
change preview to different settings in vegas -> what is done in red gets all kind of sily things and is fully uselessNow change in vegas ( with same 1440×1080-50i files ) the project properties to 1920×1080 and use red as plug-in and do some things in red -> when returning to vegas , what is done in red is OK and just as it should ( pppffftt… )
What I conclude ( forget about the frame rate for the moment ) is that red 5 has no knowlegde of 1440×1080 sizes when being used as plug-in of vegas .
This could be checked pretty fast by your good team.

February 10, 2012 at 4:46 pmDid an extra other test on one of the vegas users system which has after effects installed as well and same m2t file which boris RED 5 as plug-in of vegas misinterpretes as 1920×1080 ( instead of 1440×1080) is correctly seen by same boris RED 5 as plug-in of after effects .
So , it is a typical boris red 5 – sony vegas ( 10 and 11 ) issue , one of both is misinterpreting footage PAL ( both PAL DV as PAL HDV ).
