    Hey Guys,

Im trying to recreate this lighting effect on a similar peace of cloth.

Does anyone have any idea how to achieve these varying levels of light across a texture like this in PS or Lightroom?

    Any help much appreciated

Not in plain Photoshop. You need a way to generate a normal map, for which there are a number of tools. Crazybump and Filter Forge at least can do this. Free options should also exist, or you can use trial versions for of those two. Crazybump is somewhat easier to use.

Once you have a normal map, you can use Photoshop to generate masks for colors for lights coming from different directions.

Come to think of it, you might be able to do this with the Photoshop lighting effects, using a softened version of the fabric image as the height map.

Yeah, comes out pretty good with the lighting effect (Render>Lighting Effect). I surface blurred and blurred a copy of the original on an alpha channel and used it for the texture map, and used two spotlights, read and cyan plus some ambience. I then copied the original layer on top and put it in luminosity mode, 50% opacity, curved it a bit darker and another copy of the same in overlay mode, 50% opacity to add some metallicity.
