  • Recreate effects from Zayn Malik Pillow Talk music video!?

Posted by Sam Deeley on February 3, 2016 at 9:28 am

    Hi all,

Firstly let me apologise for referring to Zayn Malik, however my girlfriend showed me his new video the other day and I was blown away by some of the effects. I want to recreate some of these effects for future projects myself.

Please refer to the video here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_3d6GntKbk (mute the sound!)

The effects I am interested in are seen at – 0:43 and 1:59

The first effect being as though the camera was looking through a diamond.

The second effect being almost like a wavy nebula surrounding the couple, however the cloud like ‘entity’ in the background can clearly be seen to reflect the couples.

Any help would be much appreciated!!!

    Thanks,
    Sam

The first looks like it might be able to be done with CC Kaleida, although I think it might just be a displacement of some sort. The second is also possibly a displacement using fractal noise or something similar. It would definitely take some experimentation. But that’s where I’d start.

If i do make anything i will post on here and see what you guys think.

    Cheers,
    Sam
