I want to recreate the circle grid animation in the beginning of this video. I haven’t been able to find any tutorials online that demonstrates how this can be done. It appears pretty simple. Can anyone help me get this started? Thanks in advance.

Sorry I was a litte to quick on reply.
You can do this using an Adjustment Layer with Spherize applied at center.
Under the Adjustment Layer use a super wide Solid (20480×2048) and apply a Grid to it using Width Slider.
Animated the position from left to right (whatever floats your boat).
PreComp that and apply a Track Matte using a Spherical Mask.
Use that Comp and apply on any layer of your choosing.
    Does it look great…not really.
I would have done this in Maya.
Im just lazy that way 😉

Thanks for this. I’ve never used a width slider before so not sure how to do that. But I did everything else, and the grid showed up. The problems I have are:
    1) The lines on the y axis show a fake perspective because of the sphere effect. I want the vertical lines to be the same width throughout.
    2) Don’t know how to skew the grid so it’s more oval, and not a perfect circle.

I thought this would be easier than it actually is. Is it possible to do what I’m describing without frame-by-frame animation?
