Recovering/Repairing Tape from Malfunctioning Camera
Hi. I have a tape that I exported a bunch of videos to, and it turned out that the camera that I used to export them was faulty, so it plays fine in that camera but the video and audio are all skippy in any other cameras. This is with Sony Digital8 cameras. Unfortunately, I no longer have access to the malfunctioning camera to play it back, so I was wondering if it was possible to recover the footage from the tape in viewable condition, either by importing it and somehow fixing it in premiere or sending the tape somewhere for them to recover the footage (anywhere in NYC)? If anyone has any ideas, I would greatly appreciate it. I could upload a short sample of the video if anyone wanted to take a look at it, but the audio basically comes in for a split second every moment or two and the video jumps between frames and seems to be showing a slightly different frame on the top half than the bottom half, if that makes any sense.

I doubt you can fix the video. Your best bet is to find someone with a professional Sony Digital 8 playback deck and transfer to mini DV tape.
