For some reason FCP X crashes fairly frequently while importing – spinning beach ball of death. That’s it’s own problem. But my question is about recovering. When I open the project again all clips are there, but the ones that didn’t import have a camera icon on top of them. Is there an easier way to reimport these. I figured I could right-click them and say “Import” but there is no such option. “Organize Files” doesn’t do anything. They only way I’ve found is by deleting them from the event and then reimporting them. Deleting files always makes me nervous because there some room for error.

You can reconnect by right clicking the event and searching for the original files. But I would really try to figure out why it’s crashing on import. Does it happen every time? Is only a certain type of media? Are you importing through the import dialogue or dragging files in from the finder?
