Had a external media drive go bad. Got all the media extracted successfully, but the media files are not reconnecting with the files in FCP project bin. The icons for the files are all that (green) exec on the gray background. The Unix default thing.

Anybody know how to reconnect my files to the project? Help, please!

The file extension must have gotten screwed in the recovery. Try adding a .mov file extension to the name and see if it looks like a quicktime file again to the system.

The other thing that might go wrong is the file permissions may not be correct as well. But if it is showing the Unix thing then that is normally for a file without an extension so try that first on one file and then make sure that file plays OK in QT and FCP.

That’s a Finder problem, not FC fault.
Repair Permissions, which I don’t think will fix it.
    DiskWarrior will do it.
