recover lost avid projects (accidentally deleted on xp)
Hello everyone,
So, I made an incredibly stupid mistake and drag-and-dropped the wrong project file to the trash and then emptied the trash and… of course, there was no back up.
A friend has been running recovery programs for XP on my system and has been able to pull up individual bins, but the Avid Project File, Avid Bin File and the AviSynth Script file never appear.
Any thoughts? Advice? (You know, other than … be more careful next time, back up your data everyweek and good luck rebuilding your project.)

All of the bins will be in the Autosave Vault. You’ll have to rebuilt the project manually. First, make a NEW project with the same settings as the other one. Then, drag in all the latest Autosaved bins into that project.

Do you know where the Autosave Vault is located? I am doing a search for it and not coming up with anything.

Sorry, it’s called the ATTIC in Avid land.
On your hard drive, in the USERS>SHARED>AVID MEDIA COMPOSER folder. Oh, that’s Mac. Hmm….not sure the start path on a PC. Search for the ATTIC.

Thank you. Unfortunately, the Attic only contained a limited number of files (being unaware of it I did not change its default settings). Do you know of any good recovery programs that are specific to Avid’s project and bin files?
