Can Sony HVR-Z1 HDV Camcorder record direct to Sony Vegas 9? If so what do I need to make it happend?
I’d be very happy for an answer to this basic question!

Don’t know if you can to the studio version but you can to the ‘full’ Pro version (Currently 8) I just attach my FX1 via firewire to the computer (laptop – single core P4 3.2GHz and run the capture app. I have ended up doing this because I have been running into what I believe were drop out defects when I recorded to tape. I don’t get those defects when I record this way.

    Thank you (busy weekend=)!
I’m not yet an owner of Sony Vegas. Would it be possible to watch what you film live while recording it, for example if you wanted to use chroma key and see what it looks like while filming? Or is there an application for that? If not could someone recommend another program better suited for working with chroma keying this way?

Yes you can see live what you are recording. But you cannot see a chromakeyed background at the same time(althougyh I have never tried it – disclaimer)
