    Hi Guys,

I am trying to record some audio using my Rode NTG4+ and my Zoom H4. I’ve attached the Mic via XLR cable to input 1 on the Zoom. Made sure Input 1 is active. Mono Mix is on so I’m recording to both channels.

The mic is on. None of the high pass or other filters are on. The mic is about 45-60cm away from my face and I can’t pick up a signal higher than about -16Db… I’ve got the recording level on the Zoom up to 100 and still the signal is so crap.

Can anyone suggest what I’m doing wrong here? Every review of this mix says it’s outstanding and I just can’t pick up a strong signal with it.

    Thanks in advance.

    Phantom power?
Have you tried a different cable?
Have you tried a different mic?
Have you tried the NTG4 mic into another device?
