    Forgive the newbie question.

I have a Rode Lavalier Microphone and I’m a little confused as to which recorder I can use. In my mind this combination works:

    Lavs> Micon 5 XLR> Tascam DR100

Is this correct? Is there a reason this won’t work, such as phantom power issues. And what about the Micon 2 1/4″ adaptor? Is it possible to just plug this into teh Tascam?

Hello Paul and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

“The MiCon-5 is designed to connect to a standard 3 pin XLR, with P48 phantom power.”

“When using a condenser mic that requires phantom power, set the +48V switch to ON.”

The above sentences are from online info about the mic and recorder. Any questions?

Thanks for the reply. That’s what I thought, but for what ever reason my set up isn’t working. Not sure if its the Digital recorder, the Micon or the lavs.

    Paul,

Use the process of elimination to get to where you want to be. Try another condenser mic that requires 48 V DC Phantom Power.

Read the manual to see if there’s a switch in the wrong position.
