September 2, 2012 at 10:46 amHDCP is copy protection. As long as the source signal is not copy protected, the HyperDeck will be able to record it just fine.

September 2, 2012 at 6:08 pmMy friend you are speaking in Chinese. All I know about my tv is that it is a RCA 1080p HD, it says nowhere that I can see copy protect. Please speak in layman terms as not all of us are tech savy like you. How do I find out if my tv is copy protected like you said.

October 24, 2012 at 3:54 amI haven’t been able to find any RCA HDTVs that have HDMI outputs on them, only HDMI inputs. If you could provide your model number, I can look a little further, but it seems unlikely they are outputs. Even if they were, they are almost always HDCP copy protected, meaning the recording device has to “decode” the video signal. The Hyperdeck does not support that HDCP decoding, so therefore cannot see or record the video signal.
Also, HDCP is a very common standard, and is present on the HDMI connections of all major televisions nowadays. If you wish to record high-definition outputs, you should probably look at HD Component outputs, which are also common on most consumer video devices (Red, Green, & Blue cables).
