    Hi all,

New forum user and intermediate Vegas Studio Platinum 9 user.

I searched the forum and found only one thread with an exact replicate problem. Unfortunately, the thread stopped after one reply; no conclusion.
    https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/208/874849#874849

I’m attempting to make a live audio recording.

    I have a microphone installed.
I create a new audio track.
I arm the track to record.
I trigger the start recording button(audio is created and can be seen in the time line).
I receive the recorded audio dialog box and click done.

At this point the data in the recorded audio track flat lines and will not playback. If I drag the recorded file from the media bin into the track I get a tiny vertical bar- again with no audio.

Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Probably not it, but the first thing that comes to mind is you aren’t by any chance trying to save the file in an area where you do not have write privileges are you ?? I ran into this a while back with a different (ftp) utility that simply threw anything I tried to save away. finally found it was trying to write over a read-only file (had been restored from CD) and it didn’t bother to tell me it could not write.

You can’t have too much disk space or too many gadgets !!

    Thanks for the reply Mike,

I do have write privileges for the file storage area.

I worked with Sound Forge for the first time last night; Successfully creating audio and then dropping files into my Vegas project. While this works, I would rather narrate directly into Vegas then edit in sound forge.

Again… any advice will be greatly appreciated.

It seems there is a step missing. You don’t mention hitting the record button a second time to stop the recording. I only get the save file box after I stop the recording. Other than that, everything works as described for me, and I do not lose the audio.

    …..

    Problem Resolved

A conflict exists between Kaspersky Internet Security and the record feature within Vegas.

I redefined the Vegas application as trusted, but it still did not work. If I disable Kaspersky protection, the recording works correctly.
