Reconnecting media: video only, no audio
Hi,
I am having several issues reconnecting media in FCP 6.0.4 and I’m hoping someone out there can save me from myself.
My external firewire drives and their backups have died on me, so I had to redigitize my media onto new drives (g-raid2, 2 TB). For some reason, when I reconnected the media, some clips in my sequence have come up as the wrong shots entirely. Right tape, wrong timecode. These tapes don’t have timecode breaks, so that’s not the issue. I don’t understand this at all, so my solution thus far is to try to redigitize those tapes.
Problem #2 is that while the master clips have linked back to the source files, the clips in my sequences sometimes only relink the video and not the audio. When I match back from the video in my sequence, the source clip plays with audio. I’ve tried reconnecting media for the sequence, but that hasn’t worked. They were digitized together and weren’t split over drives or anything like that.
Does anyone out there have any insight into these problems? Any and all help would be very much appreciated…

You’re not doing anything wrong. Sounds like a corrupted project or corrupted preferences.
Trash your prefs. Then export your sequence as an XML file. Move all your media to a different folder. And then import the XML to a new project and manually reconnect. See if it works then.
If none of that works, you can always manually replace each clip in your sequence by using Match Frame and Replace. Doing this is actually faster than it sounds if you use keyboard shortcuts.
