  • reconnecting media – FCP looking for .mov files but none in source folders

    Hi there

I am trying to reconnect media for a MAC FCP 6.0.3 project. The source files were moved between drives but have stayed the same. These files were originally shot on an EX3.

FCP asks for the file names with a .mov on the end. The search function finds the folder with the correct file name but there are no .mov files inside. Instead there are .MP4 and .SMI and then non-video files .PPN .XML and .BIM

I’m not sure how to solve this problem. By choosing .MP4 it moves onto the next file name to reconnect but doesn’t move the file into the “files located” area and doesn’t reconnect.

    Can anyone help?

I have also considered batch capturing the footage again, but this tells me that there is another item to reconnect and then crashes.

    Cheers Carthew

    Hi Carthew,

What were the file extensions when you originally imported/captured the video?
Did you use the capture the files or were they imported into FCP?
