  • Reconnecting Media-FCP doesn’t recognize offline files

I’m trying to reconnect media that is offline to files I’ve copied to my RAID. I have tried highlighting all the offline files in the Browser, then selecting “Reconnect Media” but Reconnect Media doesn’t recognize that the offline files I’ve selected in the Browser are even offline. This is not a case of trying to point Reconnect Media to the offline media in the RAID, it never gets that far because it doesn’t select the offline files. For some history, I copied both the logged files in the Browser and the QT files captured from one computer. I’ve never had this problem until I upgraded to FCP5. Is there a solution beyond redigitizing (there are about 10 hours of media)? Each one of the offline files exist and function properly in QT. This doesn’t make any sense to me. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks.

Just last week I had 40 tiffs go off-line and would not reconnect. They all had names but FCP HD wanted to reconnect ‘unknown” for all of them.. weird.. After cussing and pissing at the wind, I sat down and reconnected each one individually. It took about an hour to reconnect manually each one, and about five hours of swearing and looking for a better way first.
