I just finished editing my demo reel and I sent it to compressor like I always do. When I came back, it said the attempt had failed, and when I went back into FCP, I found that some files got disconnected, which I learned was because a hardrive I was editing from had gotten disconnected.

When I reconnected the media, I got an error that some of the clips do not match the clips on the timeline. I clicked “import anyway,” and now the clips are in some useless giberish and don’t even end in .mov like the original files. I tried deleting them from FCP an re-importing them, but now it imports them the same way every time. And there are two movies on this drive that I’m trying to pull from.

The original files work fine independently, so they are not corrupted. How do I get it to import/reconnect correctly?

I’m using FCP 6 on OSX.

    Thanks!
