  • Reconnect Media loses In and Out point data, “Rate” may be different

Posted by Kevin Harvey on December 1, 2010 at 7:12 pm

I have moved the FCP project file from my brothers comoputer to my own, and when I reconnect all the footage and assets all the in and out points are off by a certain amount of frames or even seconds. The main error I seem to be getting says “Rate”.

We had this issue previously when the project was only on my brother’s computer. He consolidated all of his footage onto a bigger hard drive and when he reconnected his media he had to re-edit everything because all of the in and out points were off. This is now the final edit of a 40 minute video so I hope we don’t have to do that again!

I saw some vague posts from the past but I couldn’t find anything that ever solved this issue. Anyone know anything?

    We’re both using FCP 7.0.3
    Footage is HDV 1080p24

    Thanks everyone!

    Hey Kevin,

I just published a tutorial which talks about some media manager issues, and some fixes I found.

I’m not sure if it will help your specific situation, but it gives some tips on best practices for successful media managing.
