You’re NOT imagining things. This situation (Reconnect one at a time) has been reported as a bug on many of the other FCP sites around the net.
Typically, it’s a result of upgrading to 6.0. I’ve personally experienced it, but when and why it happens is kind of random.

Yep, Mark and I discussed this one shortly after 6.0 shipped. Its for real, and its intermittent, so its probably gonna be around for a while I fear, especially as Apple was not able to reproduce it.

July 23, 2007 at 5:41 pmThe problem occurs WITH the box checked. It’s not pilot error; it’s real; it’s intermittent; and it’s a pain in the ass. And of course Apple refuses to acknowledge that it’s happening.

July 23, 2007 at 5:44 pmDavid –
If Apple wanted to reproduce it I could send them a set of files today – a program file and two identical folders of media, one that will reconnect and one that won’t. What’s the big deal. Anyone who has experienced this problem could do the same. If fixing this was a priority, or easy, it would be done by now.

July 26, 2007 at 9:10 pmYeah this is happening to me to. Even with the ‘connect all in realative path checked, that seams to be the problem it will not reconnect to all the files in the path, just the one at the top.
We have mirrored drives for 2 edit rooms and a 3rd that sends media to both of the drives. So media manager is not optimal. I just want to be able to send a bunch of files and reconnect when they are all in the same path. I could do it before.. is this so hard to do again Mr. Jobs!?!
Oh and Media Manager works at about a quarter of the speed! Its better to just transfer stuff!

August 9, 2007 at 12:29 pmI’d like to add my woes to the lot, I’ve been having this problem since yesterday, on a particular project we’ve been using for training since FCP 3.
12 clips, 2 sequences, never had a problem. NEVER.
Now, FCP 6.0.1, move the media around, need to reconnect, BAM! One clip at a time.
Weird.

September 6, 2007 at 2:58 pmi’ll throw my hat in the ring as well. I’m having the exact same problem. Files sent from a colleague overseas used to all reconnect in a few steps, now i’m having to reconnect each one manually.
For all its great advances, i’ve never had so much trouble with FCP before the upgrade to 6.
Since the upgrade, i get dropped frames on playouts, error out of memory problems (on a very regular basis), random colour overlays on renders involving Motion files, and of course, i can’t reconnect more than one file at a time. Before 6 – my system was rock solid and never had any of these problems.
Oh yeah, Color cannot work in pal (ever since the 6.01 bug fix!)
and to think i had to pay for this!
