So I shot a film on 35mm, had it transferred to Apple Pro Res 422HQ 24p, and have been working on it in FCP. The sequence setting I have been editing in is NTSC DV (3:2) 29.97 (NTSC-CCIR 601/DV). Why you ask … A mistake.

So now the movie’s done and I need to reconform back to the full-res footage. I followed a post I found here for doing this with Red footage. I tried to do it in media manager as suggested and then do a batch capture … I get this far and it says ‘unable to initialize dv deck …’ (the footage is all on a harddrive in the native prores.)

Where am I going wrong? What do I do??

    Please please please help!

    Thank you.

[Paola Vengoechea Martini] “Where am I going wrong?”

Using the Media Manager. Your footage is already ProRes….it’s only your SEQUENCE that is DV. The footage is fine.

Load a clip into the Viewer. Make a new sequence. Cut the clip into the sequence. Click YES when FCP asks if you want to make the sequence settings match clip settings. Delete that clip. YOu just want a sequence with the proper settings.

Go to the WRONG sequence…select ALL, copy, and then paste into the new sequence. Select all again, then go to the EDIT menu and choose REMOVE ATTRIBUTES. Choose BASIC MOTION and DISTORT.

    Life saver!!
I had tried the copy paste technique but never thought of removing the attributes – brilliant!
    Thank you!
