I recently shot a music video using the RED. I used RED Rushes to inges the RED files to convert them apple prores(HQ) files then imported them into my project. There were 4 clips that for some reason that RED Rushes wouldn’t convert so I used log and transfer for those files. I finished my edit and prepared to re-conform my project back to the original RED files. I followed all the steps on the RED FCS white paper, created an offline sequence in a new project using the media manager. The problem is when I try to re-ingest the red media. I right click on the offline sequence I have created and select batch capture and final cut says “The selection contains clips that originated on both file based devices and tapes. The clips from tapes will be processed first, and the file based clips after that.” It then tries to open up log and capture bust says there isn’t a controllable deck then switches to log and transfer but it only ingests the four clips that I originally ingested using log and transfer. How can i reconnect the files I ingested using rushes to original red files.

I know that the RED FCS white paper was out of date almost as soon as it came out – i found that out the hard way! The best place to go for all things RED is reduser.net – you will find your answer there in no time.

    all the best
