Recommended multicam workflows (5.5)
I should say that I’m pretty new to Premiere Pro, so some of this may be obvious, but I was hoping for some good tips or recommendations on creating a more efficient workflow using multicam footage.
I’m editing a hour and a half presentation that was covered by multiple cameras. We need to edit it down to 5-6 short clips, 3-5 minutes each. I successfully synchronized all my clips in Premiere and have a sequence to edit from. The issue I’m having now is that because it’s in a nested sequence, I can’t create subclips of the long 1.5 hour clip.
Right now I just have a duplicated sequence of the multicam clip I set up, and I’m editing that into sections and copy/pasting those sections into new smaller sequences. Is there a step that I’m misssing that would help make this easier and less messy? Most of the tutorials I found online concentrate more on just setting up the synchronization, and are smaller clips like music videos.
Appreciate any recommendations/advice that can be made in advance. (Also I apologize if this is meant to be in basic – I felt like it could cross over into both).

I mostly do it the other way around. First you make the cuts, you could use the widest shot or the shot with the recorded audio. After that, you would multicam the smaller clips. This seems like a much better way to work because when you actually cut in the multicam sequence, Premiere has to work with 3 videofiles instead of just one.
I hope this makes sense at all.

Appreciate the feedback, and I could definitely see how processing the multiple video files all the time may bog the machine down later on in the project.
Will try this workflow out on my next project.
