I have the VidBox but i notice a slight “flicker” (going from dark to light and back, just a little but continually). I’ve contacted the manufacturer and they say to reinstall the software, try different USB and RCA cables, even a different VHS deck, but the issue remains, so i’m guessing it’s the box. I found the ClearClick on Amazon and figure i’ll try it. Does this issue sound familiar to any of you? Did you find a solution?

i just got the Digit Now Video Capture thing, and it’s squirrelly. The directions are poorly written, though i was able to capture directly in QuickTime, but it defaults to 16×9 (not good for VHS), and there’s some magenta discoloration on the top third of the screen.

i might be returning this, unless i can figure out how to at least get rid of that discoloration. i was able to see the video on an OSB screen…and it didn’t have the discoloration, but i couldn’t choose the digit now card as a source, but it did show up on screen…so i maybe i just need to do it that way? do any of you have advice for another option? this seems like it should be easier.

What deck are you using? Are you using a TBC? What quality are you looking for?

The deck is a JVC Super VHS ET, no TBC, and highest quality via the S-video cable.

Find a TBC. The difference is night and day. Most digitizers won’t work properly without a TBC before it. If you can’t find a stand alone TBC, depending where you are you may be able to find a cheap Betacam SP recorder that will allow you to pass the video signal through its built in TBC. I have done this before with Betacam SP recorders and Panasonic AG-7750 pro S-VHS decks.

Thanks for the tip. I just might have one tucked away in the garage somewhere. But now whether i still have BNC to RCA converters is another story. 😉
