Recommend a RAID card for new Mac Pro, PCD35 workflow
Hello all,
Just thought I would ask around to see what the most current recommendations are for RAID cards. My company will need to purchase a system for dumping P2 cards via the PCD35 for archiving and delivery purposes and I’m trying to flesh out a workflow with a fast turnaround. The Apple RAID card is my first inclination, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.
We’ll be shooting a series of events on 14 different weekends with up to 5 HVX200s at any given point with each camera connected via SDI to an HD switcher and the program feed recording to a P2 recorder, most likely an AG-HPG20, shooting roughly 14-15 camera hours of 720p dvcpro hd.
The idea I had would be to dump the footage with Shotput to an external eSATA or SAS drive and an internal RAID 0 for redundancy with the drive being shipped to the client after each event.
Does this sound right? Would there be an unworkable performance hit using an eSATA external vs SAS?
Thanks for your input and time.
