  • Real Time Scopes??

Installing FCP 6 soon, and this question came up today. Are the video scopes in v6 real-time or the same as v5? Final Touch featured real-time video scopes, did they port over with “color”? If so did they replace the not-so-great scopes in FCP?

The scopes in FCP 5.1.4 ARE realtime. You may have not noticed. The scopes in FCP 6 are the same.

Color has its own scopes, which are better and are the same as in FT.

If you need truly responsive and accurate scopes, get an external unit.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

Scopes in 5.1.4 were only real time for SD. In HD they weren’t. I haven’t tried to open any HD projects in FCP6 yet to test that.

What is better in FCP6 is there is an adjustment for the brightness of the scopes and a scale brightness. Eventually I am sure the later versions of FCP6 will be able to remember the settings which at the moment are lost each time you restart.
