Reactivating FCP
Just received my Mac Pro and migrated the contents of my MBP. FCP and other Adobe products made it but the licenses didn’t. Used to have them on my dearly departed G5 but it’s now a boat anchor. Any thoughts on what to do? Thought; I do still have the drives that were on the G5 but not installed yet and not sure if they’ll even work. The programs Should be on one of them.

Well, first off, migrating apps like FCP and Adobe doesn’t fully get every component they need. SO many parts of them are installed in the Library folder on the User and Main level that Migration Assistant doesn’t get. They won’t work properly. So it is best to install them from scratch.
Second…where is the paperwork or original packaging for these apps? That is where the license keys are. Locate those and…well, best to install from scratch…then input the serial numbers.

I was afraid of that. What about the ‘too many activations’ I get from Adobe software? Got it with PS and FL, both cs3. AE is cs4 and has only been installed on the MBP. Thanks

Call Adobe and have them reset the activations. FCP doesn’t have a limit.
