  • Re-rendering when lifting compound clip from primary storyline

When I apply stabilization to a clip, I typically then make it a compound clip, so that I can trim it without the stabilization analysis starting up again, and then sharpen it because of the resolution loss from stabilizing. But when I lift it above the primary storyline and put it on top of another clip, I need to re-render! Why should this be so? Nothing has changed visually; it’s completely covering the other clip. I’m doing the lifting so I can easily slide around clips while leaving others anchored to the soundtrack, as with adding cutaway shots to interviews. This unnecessary re-rendering can add quite a bit of down time while I’m waiting for the rendering to finish. Is there any way to make it so I don’t have to re-render these clips, or, is there a way to easily slide around clips that are on the primary storyline?
