    Hi!

I created an animation that is 720 X 540, Square Pixels (4:3), in After Effects.

I have been asked to submit it to a film festival, and one of their allowed formats is “HDCAM (Not SP).”

I was going to re-render the animation in After Effects at twice the size, 1440 X 1080.

Will that be the right size to fit on HD CAM, and is there an easy way to upsize the animations to those proportions? Will it be worth it to make the animation larger, so it will look better?

(Yes, the source artwork is large enough to handle that size.)

Presumably, you will work with a post house or service bureau to get your animation onto HDCAM; you should check in with them about how they would want you to deliver the material. They might prefer your 1440×1080 image pillarboxed in a 1920×1080 raster.

I recommend using the “Scale Comp” script included with AE to get you started on your size change:

    File > Scripts > DemoPalette.jsx > Scale Comp
